We are a pioneering port in Norway when it comes to using shore power.
We were the first port in Europe to install shore power from 2014. Since then, the ferries have been connected every night, which saves the environment from large local and global emissions of CO2.
In addition to the high-voltage facility located at the ferry terminal, the Port of Kristiansand has two mobile facilities that supply offshore vessels and cruises with electricity from shore.
The Port of Kristiansand participates in several national and international projects based on our experience and work related to shore power.
Both Emission-free Oslofjord and the Interreg project Green Jutland Corridor are examples of this.
Locally, we see good opportunities for shore power facilities in Mandal, Lindesnes and Kongsgård in Kristiansand.
