The main guidelines are as follows:
In the period 1 May - 31 August, 5 knots is the maximum permitted speed within 50 meters of land, islets and reefs that are visible above the water surface in Kristiansand municipality. This provision does not apply in waters where other speed limitations have been established.
Special considerations:
Keep an eye on the ferry traffic. The Port of Kristiansand is one of Norway's busiest ports, and during the summer period there is also a higher frequency of ferry traffic. Take the necessary consideration!
3 knots (red areas) is the maximum permitted speed all year round in the following waters:
- Lundeelven river, estuary
- Auglandbukta from Jaktodden to Storenes
- Western harbor from Nordodden west to Lagmannsholmen
- Digging channels
- Østerhavnen between Odderøya and Tangen
- Kuholmsbukta and Bertesbukta
- The Herøy Canal
- Digging channels
5 knots (dark blue areas) is the maximum permitted speed all year round in the following waters:
Lindesnes municipality:
- Stokke to Båly and the Spangereid Canal
- Svennevik Bay
- Pig ear
- Narvesundet at Underøy
- Tjøm
- Mandal river
- Skjernøysundet
- Rosnesvågen
- Ramsvågen
- Havnefjorden and Harkmarksfjorden
Kristiansand municipality:
- Høllen
- Ny-Hellesund
- In Brøvikbukta bay between Andøya's southeasternmost point to Madeira's northeasternmost point
- The strait between Andøya and Bredalsholmen
- I Otra
- Eidsbukta
- Hånesbukta
- Ronsbukta and Drangsvannane
- Fidjekilen and Tømmerstø
- Stokken, Skippergata, Kalvøyfjorden and Randøsundsleden
