The Port of Kristiansand will be one of the preferred full-service ports for offshore

Offshore

The Port of Kristiansand has become an important OSP port, with a well-established reputation.

The Port of Kristiansand aims to be the region's leading Offshore Supply Port. In Norway, and particularly in the Agder region, there is a lot of good expertise within these industries, which makes the Port of Kristiansand a suitable and attractive port for offshore ships. In the past, the term offshore was mostly associated with oil activities, but today many people are shifting their focus towards more diverse ocean-based industries such as offshore wind.

In recent years, the Port of Kristiansand has made a number of investments to increase our quay capacity, thereby strengthening our position in the market. We also offer shore power to vessels at our quays.

The strong professional environment in Southern Norway includes major international companies such as National Oilwell, HMH, Cameron Sense and a number of other companies in the same market. The companies are all affiliated with the GCE NODE network cluster and are world leaders in their field.

In 2014, the Port of Kristiansand opened a new quay front in Kongsgård as a result of this targeted investment, and only a few days later the first offshore rig was docked. Since then, there has been a significant increase in the number of offshore calls in Kristiansand, and most southerners have become accustomed to seeing the large vessels safely docked in Kongsgård. Each call generates large, positive ripple effects for the region's business community. Everything from major companies that supply offshore cranes, to overnight stays in hotels and small craftsmen's businesses become involved in the value chain when an offshore vessel is docked. It is estimated that each port of call generates several million kroner in contracts for the surrounding business community.

For the Port of Kristiansand, offshore is still a relatively small part of the total turnover. Based on the importance this has for the business community, the development of services for the offshore segment will be prioritized in the years ahead.

As a result of the merger with the Port of Lindesnes in 2021, we will have a larger selection of quayside facilities to offer this industry.

The aim is for the Port of Kristiansand to establish and further develop quays and areas for all parts of future offshore activities. The need for the area will be developed in collaboration with the business community, and especially GCE NODE, which represents the companies. The areas will be designed to allow for the co-location of resource expertise in the port areas.

Port security is required by law and requires that everyone who is to be within the fences must have had training and be approved by Kristiansand Havn IKS.

The Gismerøya port facility is approved for calls by all types of vessels in accordance with international conventions. The quay is 170 m long and has a load-bearing capacity of up to 10 tons/sqm. The sailing depth at the quay is 10.5 m. Calls must be arranged and reported to the port office no later than 24 hours before the call. Access and transportation at the port facility requires a transport agreement, ID card and driving permit.

There are shore power facilities with 400 volt/125 amp at the north end and a 1200 kva facility is being established at the south end.
