The rules of seaworthiness
- Think safety: Knowledge and planning reduces risk and increases wellbeing.
- Bring the necessary equipment: Equipment must be kept in order and be easily accessible.
- Respect the weather and waters: The boat may only be used in suitable conditions.
- Follow the rules of the road: The regulations on giving way, speed and lantern guidance must be observed.
- Wear a life jacket or flotation device: Approved flotation devices are mandatory for everyone on board.
- Be rested and sober: The blood alcohol limit is 0.8 when driving a boat.
- Show consideration: Safety, environment and well-being are a shared responsibility.
