Neighborhood notice - Construction work in Kongsgårdbukta

7. October 2022

Those of you who live near Kongsgårdsbukta may have noticed that construction work is taking place in the harbor. In the time to come, there will probably be some more noise in the area, and we are sorry for the impact this will have on you.

What do we do?
Existing quay 36 will be extended by about 80 meters to the east. The quay will be established according to the same principle as the existing quay 36. To achieve the necessary water depth, both dredging (seabed excavation) and blasting will be required under and in front of the new quay 36 in 2022 and Q1 2023.

What's the noise?
"We are currently carrying out preparatory work, including excavation on land. Then we have to dig into the seabed itself. The dredging will be carried out by an excavator from a vessel that picks up the loose soil. We will excavate the bedrock under water to give the quay a firm foundation. Rock shelves will be blasted out for the quay pillars, which will be drilled and installed by divers.

At the same time as the dredging, we will start the concrete work and construction of prefabricated parts from land.

When will there be noise?
The seabed excavation is scheduled to start in October and continue until December. Drilling and blasting is scheduled to start in November. This will also take place sporadically in the first quarter of 2023.

Construction activities will be carried out from Monday through Saturday from 07:00 to 19:00.

Construction work on the quay will be completed in September 2023.

Noise will be monitored continuously throughout the construction period. We do what we can to limit the noise and assure you that we try to keep periods of noise as short as possible for the sake of those who live here.
