Kristiansand Port IKS today announces the competition for the development of a new container terminal in Kongsgård /Vige at Doffin and TED. The announcement marks an important step in the relocation of container activity from Lagmannsholmen, and lays the foundation for a modern and robust terminal that meets the future needs for efficient cargo handling.
The new container terminal will be implemented as a turnkey contract. The procurement includes a prequalification phase, where bidders will be assessed according to the award criteria of price, project organization, construction implementation and the environment.
About the project
The construction period is planned from spring 2026 to summer 2027. The project involves extensive groundworks, including a mass replacement estimated at approximately 67,000 solid cubic meters. This will facilitate a sustainable and solid terminal with paving stones as the top cover – dimensioned for both high container stacking and large axle loads of up to 100 tons.
In connection with the terminal design, Vige Havneveg will be rerouted and rebuilt in a new route of approximately 700 meters to the north along Ringknuten. The project also includes the establishment of a new water and sewage network, two new high-voltage substations, and new underground conduits for future electricity supply. This infrastructure will, among other things, make it possible to arrange for shore power for ships.
Future-oriented freight handling
The new container terminal will provide better logistics, more efficient operations and a modern infrastructure for operators and customers. The project is a key step in ensuring a competitive and environmentally friendly freight port for the region in the years to come.
