Kristiansand Port IKS intends to enter into a contract with Risa AS for the establishment of infrastructure and areas for a new container terminal at Kongsgård -Vige. This is one of the largest single contracts that Kristiansand Port IKS will enter into.
After a competitive bidding process, Kristiansand Havn IKS has selected Risa AS as the best supplier to enter into a turnkey contract with. The choice has been made in line with the regulations for public procurement and based on the award criteria in the competition documents, where, among other things, the environment is emphasized by 30 percent. There is a waiting period of 10 calendar days before the contract can be signed.
Will develop infrastructure and terminal areas
The project includes the establishment of central infrastructure and the preparation of areas for container and freight handling at Kongsgård -Vige. The development builds on previous measures in the area, including the restructuring of Vige harbor road, and is being built in accordance with the zoning plan.
– This is an important step in the development of a new container terminal in Kristiansand. The project will ensure that we meet future needs for efficient, safe and sustainable cargo handling, says Port Director Atle Johannessen.
The contract includes, among other things, ground work with a new water and sewage system and conduits for high-voltage/low-voltage electricity supply, two new transformer stations. There will also be mass replacement to build a new container terminal, with a stable surface that will withstand high axle loads from container trucks. In addition, Vige harbor road through the relevant area will be rerouted and built against Ringknuten's existing rock cuttings to the north.
Risa AS has planned for an efficient and safe implementation, which is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2027.
The new container terminal at Kongsgård -Vige will strengthen the role of the Port of Kristiansand as a central hub for freight and logistics in the region. The project facilitates more efficient and sustainable transport solutions, and helps meet future needs for capacity and interaction between sea and land transport.
