Kristiansand Havn IKS signed a contract with Repstad Anlegg AS on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, for the reconstruction of Vige Havneveg. The project marks an important milestone and the visible start of the development of a new container terminal at Kongsgård /Vige.

Repstad Anlegg AS, based in Søgne and currently headquartered in Sørlandsparken, will begin work immediately on handling the materials that will be reused in the project. Once the necessary permits and detailed design are in place, work on the new road alignment will begin. This includes, among other things, blasting rock behind Ringknuteodden to establish the new road.
The realignment of Vige Port Road is necessary as a result of stability challenges with the current road, and to ensure a robust and future-oriented infrastructure related to the relocation of the container terminal to Kongsgård /Vige. Vige Havneveg is a private road that connects the port area in Kongsgårdbukta with the E18 to the north, and is a central transport artery for heavy commercial traffic to and from the port.
The current road has limited capacity and is light-controlled at Ringknuteodden, as heavy vehicles cannot pass each other at the same time. This creates vulnerability for transport and is not compatible with the traffic volume and regularity that a modern container terminal requires.
– A future-oriented container terminal requires that the surrounding infrastructure is safe, stable and dimensioned for heavy transport. The realignment of Vige Havneveg is therefore an absolutely necessary measure to ensure safe and efficient access between the port and E18, says Technical Director at Kristiansand Port IKS, Harald J. Solvik.

The new route involves the current road being pulled towards Ringknuteodden, with both rock cutting on land and filling in Urvika. Blasted rock from the rock cutting, as well as existing rock behind pier 36, will be reused and placed in the sea in the surrounding area.
The contract has been entered into as a turnkey contract, which gives the contractor both responsibility and room to make their own choices within the project's framework.
– This is an important and exciting project for us at Repstad Anlegg, and it is very fun to be part of the first step in the further development of Kongsgård /Vige area. The realignment of Vige Havneveg combines both traditional earthworks and marine works, which is a perfect fit for us. We look forward to a good collaboration with Kristiansand Havn IKS and to contributing our expertise in the construction of a new road route to the future container terminal, says Dag Repstad Håverstad, project manager earthworks at Repstad Anlegg AS.
The project is the first concrete step in a larger development of Kongsgård /Vige, where the relocation of the container terminal will trigger several extensive infrastructure and port projects in the coming years.
