The traditional Port Conference in Kristiansand raises its sights and appeals to an international audience.
- Now we're putting port development into a wider European perspective. The ports in Northern Europe are closely linked and have many common challenges. The Port Conference in Kristiansand will highlight these," says Isabelle-Louise Aabel, Head of Communications at the Port of Kristiansand.
Since its inception in 2013, the annual Port Conference in Kristiansand has developed into one of the country's most important meeting places for everyone involved in maritime transport, shipping and port policy. The conference has also attracted attention outside the country's borders.
- The interest from abroad in recent years made us realize that there was a need for a port conference with an international agenda. At this year's port conference on August 22, half the day will have an international agenda. We have speakers from home and abroad. We will be highlighting issues relating to security and emergency preparedness, economic framework conditions for port development, as well as business development and innovation," says Louise Aabel.
The goal this year is to attract at least 350 participants from Norway and abroad. "The Port of Kristiansand's ambition is to host Northern Europe's most important port conference.
- "We have taken a vacant position and we will defend it well. We put port development into a broader social perspective and become relevant to a larger international audience. The port conference will boost the Port of Kristiansand and the entire region," says Louise Aabel.
