Merry Christmas to all partners, colleagues and friends of Kristiansand Havn

December 13, 2024

Dear partners, colleagues and friends of Kristiansand Port,
As we close out 2024, we do so with pride and a great deal of gratitude. This year has been filled with activity around the clock, literally – as Norway’s most accessible port, we keep the wheels turning 24/7, 365 days a year. In 2024, we have grown to 36 employees plus one trainee from Trainee Sør.

We have delivered on many fronts, and I would like to highlight some highlights:

Ferry and cruise: Our harbor guards have coordinated a formidable passenger flow of approximately 1.4 million ferry passengers and approximately 350,000 cruise guests spread over 130 ports of call.
Freight: The container terminal has handled approximately 43,000 TEUs. In addition, approximately 2.5 million tons of bulk cargo have been handled.
Events and collaborations: We organized the largest Port Conference ever with over 300 guests from Norway and abroad and a national cruise conference. In addition, we have exhibited at trade fairs such as ONS and participated in several strategic collaborations, including the Green Shipping Program and the Green Jutland Corridor.
Green growth: We are investing heavily in sustainability through projects such as the Agder Hydrogen Network and energy terminal for sea and land transport.

We have also landed a revised strategy that points towards big ambitions:

In addition, we have received a new ripple effect analysis that shows the significant value creation the port provides to regional and national businesses. This insight inspires us to continue to be a driving force for both the Agder region and the entire country.

We have also celebrated small and big victories:

And last but not least: We are the only Norwegian port with ISO certification in both quality (9001) and environment (14001).

We are proud to be a port that creates value 24/7, all year round. As we look forward to 2025 and beyond, it is with clear goals, a strong belief in collaboration and a determination to continue the development of the Port of Kristiansand as a sustainable and forward-looking port for all.

With wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Atle Johannessen
Port Director
